The Malen Community Drive

Malen Community Radio came into being in June 2017 with the aim of promoting public interest, debates, discussions that will foster peace, justice, development, and educational programme alongside issues affecting women and children, health, cultural heritage and entertainment. The radio is also committed to promoting socio-economic, political and economic development of Malen chiefdom Pujehun District, southern Sierra Leone and the country at large. Since the establishment of the radio, ethical practice and professional broadcast have always been our goal as a community radio in order to catch up other professional media organisations across the country and we have to a large extent achieved this goal.

With stable power grid, we run on a 24-hour round-the-clock broadcast with the the service of our trained and qualified producers and presenters. Furthermore, our programmes are now being streamed live on our website, Facebook and Radio Garden.

Our Vision

To be a professional media institution that will gain national and international recognition through contribution to the social-economic growth of Malen Chiefdom, Pujehun district and the country at large in a non-partisan or non-discriminatory approach.

Mission Statement

To create a forum for community discussions on issues bordering on peace, good governance, sustainable development and human rights through local news, current affairs, and information on health, democracy, and social cohesion in Malen Chiefdom, Pujehun District, and the entire country.

In 2017, Radio Malen was conceived to promote public interest stories, debates, and discussions that will foster peace, development, education and propel discussions on issues affecting women and children, health, culture and entertainement

Sponsors

Radio Malen is supported by the community of Malen Chiefdom hence the involvement of the community within our board structure and locally driven radio programming.

Install

Radio Malen was installed in June 2018 following legal registration requirements with the IMC and NATCA formally NATCOM

On-air

Our very first on-air broadcast was achieved on July 20 in the year 2018. It was a great surprise for the local community as evidenced by a huge turnout at the station premises with tuned radio handsets.
